The dictionary definition of marketing reads:

“The activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.”

This is not an effective definition for Solopreneurs.

Here’s how I define marketing for Solopreneurs:

This definition highlights the most important thing Solopreneurs must create and maintain for success… “a system that consistently delivers value to customers/clients.”

Creating a value delivery system is both a big and important challenge. This system is the main asset of a Solopreneurs business.

Parts of a Solopreneurs Value Delivery System

A Solopreneurs value delivery system has these parts:

  1. A system for collecting and analyzing customer/client feedback. Make it easy for customers to give you their feedback. And make it easy for you to view, analyze, and act on the feedback you get. Maintain a product/services roadmap.
  2. Quality Products/Services. It all starts by having great products/services that solve customer problems. Create a plan and a method for making great product(s), and/or delivering services.
  3. A plan and a method for reviewing, evaluating, and updating your product(s)/service(s). Track customer satisfaction and preferences with targeted polls & surveys.

Benefits of a System

Most Solopreneurs do what they know how to do. Seven figure Solopreneurs build systems.

Setting up systems is hard. It takes time. And systems must be maintained and updated constantly. On the other hand systems deliver these big benefits:
